Let’s start with a quick introduction—who are you, and what are you studying?

Hi! My name is Ebba Eriksson and I’m pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management at Lund University. This summer, I’ve joined Genexis’ marketing team, where I’ve had fun working on projects combining creativity and analytics. I take particular interest in how companies can position themselves strategically in competitive markets. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time running and have recently picked up golf!

What inspired you to apply for an internship at Genexis?

Working at Genexis provides a unique and exciting opportunity to combine my creative and strategic interests in a dynamic, real-world environment. I’ve learned a lot about the telecommunications and Wi-Fi industries, it’s genuinely fun to work with such technical solutions. Working at a mid-sized company also means I’ve had a wide variety of tasks and have been able to drive my own projects, which is incredibly rewarding.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My workdays are quite varied, which keeps things interesting! Typically, I’ll have a couple of meetings in the morning – some with the marketing team and others that are cross-functional, collaborating with different business units. Outside of meetings I work on various projects. Some days I’m doing market analysis and others are filled with a lot of design work and campaign planning. The Stockholm office is an amazing place to work at, as it’s right by the waterfront!

What kind of projects or tasks have you worked on?

I’ve done a fair bit of website work, designed product brochures and interactive software demos and conducted market research. Some tasks are recurring, such as video editing and content scheduling, whilst others are longer projects. I also spent a lot of time organizing our CRM-system and have taken part in planning some exciting upcoming initiatives!

What’s one skill you’ve developed during your time here?

I’ve had to quickly learn a lot of different software programs and workflows, so I’ve developed my ability to pick up a lot of information and put it to use straight away.

What do you like the most about your work – and what’s the most challenging?

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed how much variety my work involves, and it’s very fulfilling that I’ve been trusted with initiating projects on my own. It’s been a challenge working in a team based in two different countries, but we maintain excellent communication and I’ve been able to build a great relationship with my Dutch colleagues!

Which achievement are you most proud of from your internship?

I’ve had the chance to take the lead on a few different projects, and I’m proud of how I’ve been able to structure and move them forward on my own. It’s been very rewarding to take ownership and see things come together.

How would you describe the company culture?

I’ve received such a warm welcome at Genexis, the environment is very open and friendly. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by hard-working and creative colleagues! There’s also a nice culture of giving and receiving feedback – we’re very collaborative in our way of working.

What advice would you give to future interns at Genexis?

Working at Genexis is an excellent opportunity to grow within a wide variety of areas at once. Make sure to communicate closely with your team and bring up your own thoughts and ideas often. Being new to the company, your fresh perspective on things will be very appreciated!
