Hello Olivier, what is your role at Genexis?

I’m the Sustainability Manager at Genexis. I started here in December 2020 as a Design Engineer and transitioned into my current role in 2023. By September 2023, I was working full-time in this new role. My focus is on ensuring the organization makes informed and responsible decisions which support our journey toward a more sustainable business.

How did that transition of roles go for you?

It was definitely a big change for me. I initially led the sustainability workgroup alongside my design work, dedicating a few hours a week from 2022. As the company’s commitment to sustainability grew, so did my responsibilities. The transition felt smooth because I was already deeply involved and passionate about the topic for some time.

What is your favorite part of working at Genexis?

The collaborative spirit. Whether it’s working with product developers, marketing, or global suppliers and customers, there’s a strong sense of teamwork and openness here.

What do you like most about your job?

That small wins create big impact. Sustainability is no longer a side topic and is central to how we operate. Being able to influence decisions that shape our impact on environment and society is incredibly rewarding.

What’s one thing that surprised you about your current role?

How quickly sustainability became a core focus and is linked to everything we do. What started as a few hours a week grew into a full-time role because of increasing industry awareness and internal momentum.

Who are you outside Genexis?

Outside work, I also spend a lot of time learning about sustainability. For example, by reading books, talking to people, and increasing biodiversity in my garden. Other than spending time with friends and family, I play tennis, play a daily game of chess, and learn French.

What’s the most unique part about working here?

The blend of technical depth and creative freedom. As a designer and now as a sustainability manager, I’ve always felt encouraged to challenge norms and propose better solutions.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Ask a lot of questions. Be curious about what goes beyond your own department and dare to challenge assumptions. Your ideas matter, and it’s okay to speak up and defend them.

Would you recommend others to come work at Genexis? And do you have any tips for them?

Absolutely. It’s a place where you can grow, learn, and make a real impact. Be open-minded and proactive and you will find opportunity here. Whether you’re designing products or shaping sustainability strategies, collaboration and curiosity go a long way.
