We are excited to announce that on the 21st of September, Genexis received a silver medal from EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment! This opens a new chapter for us to further improve our sustainability practices and to create a company with bigger goals: making the world a better place.

Over the past years, there has been an increasing urgency for businesses to become more sustainable, reduce their environmental footprint and limit global warming. In the era of globalization, each one of us is closely connected and can make an impact on the environment. We, at Genexis, recognize the urgency and see it as our responsibility to conduct business in a sustainable manner.

Well done is better than well said. For this reason, we find it necessary that our sustainability performance is assessed by a trustworthy third party. Hence, EcoVadis as they are the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings.

Who is EcoVadis?

Founded in Paris in 2007, EcoVadis is a performance rating agency focused on environmental and social issues. They partner with companies that have an environmental-friendly insight and guide them together to build a sustainable world, with the following mission:

‘We envision a global marketplace where sustainability intelligence influences every business decision – improving economies, people’s lives and the planet we all depend on.’

Since its founding, EcoVadis has become the largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings in the world, developing a global network of more than 100,000 rated companies.

The EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

Based on companies’ size, industry and country, EcoVadis’ expert analysts offer a customized questionnaire and evaluate the result with a score. Companies who perform outstanding sustainability actions will be rewarded with a medal. In general, the assessment displays how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability and CSR into their business and management system.

The Four Assessment Themes

According to the leading standards such as GRI, UNGC and ISO 26000, EcoVadis assessment system follows four themes: environment, labor & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The results are shown in unique scorecards that illustrate companies’ performance in detail, helping them understand how their business affects the environment, communities and human rights.

What happens next for Genexis?

The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.’ —Robert Swan.

In 2022, we set up a sustainability workgroup to structure and professionalize the topic within the company. Dedicating to four themes: product design, assembly and logistics, supply chain and business operations, we are taking multiple actions for a promising sustainable future.

In sum, sustainability is a matter that goes beyond ‘being competitors’, beyond ‘making a profit’ and beyond industries. It is something we should all do together. From this starting point, we have the faith to constantly improve and make a difference in protecting the environment.
