On June 10–11, the FTTH Council Europe held its spring General Assembly in the historic city of Rome. We are proud to share that this event marked the conclusion of Maarten Egmond’s impactful term as Chair of the In-home Broadband Excellence (IBE) Committee, and the election of Trond Hovind as the new Chair.

Maarten Egmond, CTO @ Genexis

As CTO of Genexis, Maarten Egmond has been a driving force in shaping the in-home broadband conversation across Europe. Under his leadership, the IBE Committee evolved from a simple idea that the in-home experience is critical to the success of fiber networks into a mature, influential body within the FTTH Council. From organizing workshops and panels to guiding Communication Service Providers (CSPs) on best practices, Maarten’s contributions have helped elevate the importance of in-home broadband excellence as a key factor in making fiber networks profitable and future-ready.

Continuing the journey as the new chair, Trond Hovind, Director of Business Development for Connected Home at Genexis, brings a fresh perspective and deep expertise to the committee. With over two decades of leadership experience in the broadband and smart home industries, Trond has held key roles at Heimgard Technologies and Inteno Group. He has consistently driven fiber adoption, CPE innovation, and seamless in-home broadband experiences across Europe. Trond is passionate about helping operators unlock the full potential of fiber infrastructure by delivering more value and services into the home.
