The circular economy is critical to Genexis, as fiber broadband equipment contributes to the rising electronic waste. Globally, 20-50 million tons of e-waste are generated each year, making it the fastest-growing component of municipal solid waste.
Given the short life cycles of electronic products, there is an urgent need for responsible end-of-life management. By embracing circular economy principles such as reusing, refurbishing, recycling, and designing for longer product life, we can reduce our environmental impact, manage resource scarcity, and meet regulatory and customer expectations for sustainable practices.

Resource inflow
Genexis ensures responsible material use by measuring, reporting, and increasing the share of eco-friendly input (e.g., recovered post-consumer or renewable materials). Using circular materials also reduces the product carbon footprint. In addition to recycled plastic, Genexis and its suppliers are exploring secondary material streams in electronics. We have already adopted environmentally friendly and resource-efficient packaging and aim to eliminate plastic from product packaging by 2026. Since 2023, we have used 100% recycled and recyclable brown carton boxes. In 2024, 30% of our total resource inflow was circular, measured by using the Circular Transition Indicators method – a key metric in our product environmental reports.
Circular design
Circular design plays a significant role in Genexis’ product development. We incorporate eco-design features and follow circularity principles, ISO 14064 guidelines, and eco-certifications to improve circularity and reduce carbon footprints. Our products are designed for easier disassembly, with fewer parts and smart assembly features, supporting sustainability without compromising quality.
Our FiberBox and FiberTwist Series enable efficient network upgrades by extending the life of existing infrastructure, reducing waste. The modular FiberTwist series allows telecom operators to upgrade only the essential components, further minimizing waste.

Resource outflow
Genexis minimizes resource outflow by prioritizing recovery, reuse, and recycling throughout the product lifecycle. Together with our partners, we explore ways to recover valuable materials from production, packaging, and end-of-life equipment streams. We are expanding efforts in product refurbishment to increase resource efficiency and circularity across our value chain. By giving components, a second life and reducing reliance on virgin materials, we help build a more sustainable and future-proof fiber ecosystem.
