David Price, Sales Manager US

I’m David Price, the new US Sales Manager at Genexis, and I joined in August 2024. I have over 25 years of experience in this industry. I’ve worked for companies like Calix and Ribbon Communications, where I specialized in helping businesses grow by identifying and developing new products, solutions, or markets. I’m excited to bring that expertise to Genexis, focusing on expanding our presence in the US market.

How has the telecom industry changed during your career?

The industry has evolved dramatically, transitioning from basic telephone connections to a competitive race for the highest speeds, whether through fiber optics or wireless networks. Today, it’s not just about speed though; delivering an exceptional experience has become crucial. This involves offering apps and future services to subscribers or finding ways to reduce costs while enhancing these experiences. The rapid pace of innovation and the continued evolution of technology keep me excited and engaged. I thrive on being part of this dynamic disruption.

What trends should we watch in the US fiber market?

One key trend is the increasing competition, especially as towns and cities open up their markets. Large companies are also building networks that smaller providers can lease, which lowers the barrier to entry for new players. This shift will create more opportunities in fiber broadband, and BEAD funding will play a significant role in supporting this growth.

Do you see the US moving towards open-access networks, similar to Europe?

Yes, I think we’re heading in that direction. However, the US market has unique challenges, like legacy infrastructure, which makes it different from Europe. While we might borrow some ideas, I think the US will follow its own path when it comes to network rollouts.

Are there any states leading the way in the fiber revolution?

Rural states are growing the fastest because they have fewer infrastructure challenges and can quickly build out new networks. With government funding, such as BEAD, these areas are seeing rapid expansion. On the other hand, suburban areas around major cities are lagging behind, as they face more obstacles with existing infrastructure.

How do you plan to leverage your experience in your new role?

My experience allows me to identify solutions that align with our customers’ needs quickly. I’ve worked with everyone from engineers to C-level executives, so I understand the different priorities within a business. That knowledge helps me build the right strategies to drive profitability and growth. I also bring a broad network of industry contacts, which will be valuable as we expand.

Welcome to the team, David! We’re excited to have you on board and look forward to the great work ahead.
